A truly Big-Deal Sunday: Passover, Easter and Ramadan together
Hello  kids, and a fine Sunday to all on April 17, 2002.
If you could have a word with China and Russia about Peace on Earth, that would be appreciated.
Suni Lee has got problems, no doubt. But in the meantime she is within sight of the NCAA gymnastics championship.
Oh, and she is the U.S. champion on the balance beam. And second best on the floor.
PHOTO: "I feel like I've been putting too much pressure on myself," Suni said.

Thailand's junta chief warns there could be some of this 'coronavirus' hanging around
The hugely  dictatorial, marvelously uneducated Prayut has made the front pages by issuing a national order:
Prepare for a surge in Covid-19 infections on Monday, when people return to work after the long [Songkran] holiday.
Reminder: Prayut has no medical training or evident knowledge.
You can't stop a coronavirus outbreak. Or so it seems.
On Friday, the number of new Covid-19 casea actually dropped a tad. During the 24 hours:
18,892 confirmed new cases of Covid-19, and,
125 additional deaths. That is the highest toll since January.
Friday’s figures did not include 8,858 positive results from antigen tests over the past 24 hours. This would raise the total to 27,750.
This compared with 20,289 new cases and the 119 coronavirus-related deaths reported on the previous day.

The missing dead
The China-owned World Health Organization has concocted a new coronavirus theory:
The death toll from Chinese Covid-19 infections is twice what governments say.
India in particular is blocking official numbers.
The W.H.O. refuses to release any documents or figures that back up its theory.

Sex abuse cases against Prinn pile up
Women are literally lining up to lodge legal complaints against the super well-connected deputy leader of the Democrat Party.
A young woman filed a criminal complaint in Chiang Mai on Saturday. Five others will file charges on Monday.
Lawyer Sittra Biebangkerd has been contacted by "more than 20" women who are willing to file charges.
The problem is that accused pervert
 Prinn Panitchpakdi,
who has quit the Party in order to find time to fight the charges, has more powerful connections than Hunter Biden.
The father of the accused pervert is Supachai Panitchpakdi, the U.S.-supporter former head of the World Trade Organization.

Why prices are rising
Thailand's ruling junta has spent more than 68 billion baht for three 'subsidy schemes' designed to help reduce the cost of living and stimulate the economy.
[68 billion baht is
[U.S.$2 billion
[2.5 billion loonies]
The fourth phase of the planned non-stop 'Khon La Khrueng' co-payment scheme has begin.

RIP
British born Henry Patterson, much better known as author Jack Higgins has died, in England, at 92.
He wrote 85 books, most of them thrillers, and many adapted for the small and big screens - The Eagle Has Landed, The Eagle Has Flown, On Dangerous Ground, and A Prayer for the Dying. RIP indeed.
Cleaning a river
The 420-kilometre Songkhram is the very last free-flowing river in Thailand's northeast (Isan).
But industry and agrochemicals are silting and slowly blocking it.
A campaign is under way to undo that damage and make the Songkhram free again.

The horrible CNN-Plus TV channel has reached a total of 10,000 viewers per day.
A YouTube video of paint drying (and that's it) has more viewers (nearly 1.1 million) than CNN+
Privateer? What the...??
Follow-up to yesterday's comment:
There is an excellent backgrounder and explanation of 'privateers' and what they might do to China, at...

NOTE: 'Barrett's Privateers' by Stan Rogers is not a true story, but a Canadian folk song in the style of a sea shanty. Privateers used to be common and, under U.S. law, are legal today.
That said...
To paraphrase the late and undoubtedly great Stan Rogers...
Oh, I'm glad I'm not in Shanghai now.
PHOTO: Shanghai official says handling of COVID-19 outbreak below expectations as lockdown continues.
Say, has anyone seen that Xi Jinping guy lately? No?
Well if you do see him, ask him how that 'Zero Covid' plan of his is coming along.
The Other Fednapping Plot
The completely corrupt and unsalvageable criminal organisation F.B.I. organized an attempted murder of the governor of Virginia. Like it did in Michigan.
One of the vomitous details of this conspiracy against America is how much the F.B.I. has stolen and adopted the old C.I.A. tactic of using pretend-companies (dummy or "front" businesses; think Air America, Polaris Water.

There is no end of suggestions of how we will help people in the Pacific Northwest of North America dig their ways out of the coming twin-disaster of tsunami and earthequake.

Prove me wrong.
In the North America of today...
and yes, cobber, Mexico and British Columbia and Nunangat and Tenochtitlan are all in North America.
In today's North American politics, the most important campaign is to toss all native Americans down the memory hole.
 For example...
Colorado Wants to Fine Schools US$25,000 a Month That Don't Drop Indian Mascots.
And when they write "Colorado," they don't mean some numbnuts-activist in the lower Front Range, they mean the entire state, no exceptions, with police and government-approved accountants on hand for enforcement. Because the government will tell you what to say.
Don't you think it's time to take down your 'Remember the Belgrano' poster?
This postage stamp (below) is not available at postal offices in the Ukraine. But it should be.
