Alert New York police finally arrest the man who attacked and crippled Thai model Bew Jirajariyawetch. Three months ago.
Children, please calm down. I know it's Saturday, February 19, but we have news.
The Man of Isolated Sorrow
The former army commander and four-star general who went coup-coup in 2014 and eliminated the bothersome elected government poses with all his political friends as he works in an anteroom before gracing Thailand's parliament with his presence for the second day in a row.
He noted to the country that Thailand's economy is pretty much the best, or close to the best in the world.
"Thailand is better able to deal with inflation and the rising cost of living than other countries.
"Inflation and the high prices of goods caused by the economic impacts of Covid-19 are a major concern for the public, and the government is stepping up efforts to address the problems.
"I believe efforts to ease the debt problem will deliver tangible results this year," Prayut wrote on Facebook.
Members of the opposition were openly amused.
By actual count, Prayut has lots more supporters and more political support than any government leader in recent history.
The sometimes fierce two-day debate in Thailand aims to toss him out of office and force a new general election.
But Prayut's off-the-cuff claim on Friday to be Thailand's 'king of kings, promised by the Hindu tale, Ramakien, has not gone over well.

Charges filed over Bew's assault
New York City police finally arrested the man they say is responsible for a savage, near-fatal attack on Thai model Bew Jirajariyawetch, 23, while she was waiting for a subway last December.
The man has a long criminal record. Now he faces charges of attacking, beating and robbing Ms Bew.
Kevin Douglas, 40, is currently charged by the New York Police Department with second-degree robbery, third-degree robbery and second-degree assault. It is likely his lawyer will 'talk down' the charges and creepy Douglas will face prison time ranging from zero to close-to-zero months.
Ms Bew was attacked while waiting for a train home to Queens, a section of New York City.
Surveillance CCTV showed a man, probably Douglas, yanking her back, throwing her to the ground and punching her.
While she was down, Douglas, who has a string of prior arrests, allegedly touched her private parts and fled with her purse.
 "Allegedly". Sure.
Before his arrest on February 10, Douglas had been arrested 44 times and faced charges for assault, robbery, drugs, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal tampering dating back to 1997. His bail is $75,000 for those who feel obliged to help.

NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH: Here's the link to the actual CCTV of the attack and robbery last December 16.

NOTE: There are tonnes of items about Bew and her lawyer ripping New York police, justice and court authorities.

And ANALYZE THIS
Unless you are an American who gives a s**t, you'll need a bit of background when you read this.
But you definitely NEED to read it, American or not.
Why Asian Americans like me are the rising new parental power
During 18 months of online classes, my son was completely unengaged in school and wasted his time all day, every day, playing video games.
But San Francisco Board of Education members Gabriela López, Alison Collins and Faauuga Moliga did not recognize or try to fix the problem - instead they focused on renaming schools.
Then they ignored protests from the Asian American community and canceled the merit-based admissions system at Lowell High School.
Adding fuel to the fire, Collins blatantly discriminated against Asians with her racist tweets. Such as...
"Many" Asian Americans "use white supremacist thinking to assimilate and 'get ahead.' "Being a house n***er is still being a n***er." The charming Ms Collins is finally, thankfully, unemployed.

SAME-SAME BUT DIFFERENT: Canada, Thailand.
Prayut. Again: 'It's not my fault, darn you!'
The junta's designated 'prime minister' refused once again to accept even a tiny smidgeon of blame for the fifth large outbreak of Chinese Covid-19.
He blamed provincial governors, including the one he appointed in Bangkok.
Prayut ordered the governor of every one of the 77 provinces  to  "mitigate the spread" of  Covid-19  infections. Whatever that means.
The country  suffered more than 18,000 new cases of Chinese coronavirus on Friday. There were 27 deaths.
This is why (educated) people keep making fun of Prayut and Maha Justin as Hitler.
Hitler's agreeable Reichstag passed the "Enabling Act of Germany" which authorised the Fuhrer to declare new laws, decrees, national orders, etc. Without legal challenged.
Like Canada’s Emergencies Act, and Prayut's 2016 Emergency Decree, all uses of the laws were required to be temporary.
But none of them in the past 83 years has been temporary.
 Maha Justin isn't Hitler, but...

Queen Sirikit Centre will host 2022 Apec summit
The Apec summit is still scheduled to be "sometime later this year", aka November.
The Queen Sirikit Centre opened in 1991. It is being "upgraded" and is to reopen in September.

It was named to honour the 60th birthday of the Queen (now the Queen Mother), who officially opened the complex on August 29, 1991.
Thais are far past the point that they are shocked by crime and corruption by their Buddhist clergy. This guy is worth noting, though.
Senior monk faces temple fund theft rap
Cleric suspected of stealing 110 millon baht - about US$3.4 million or 4.4 million loonies.
NAKHON NAYOK: Police arrested a deputy chief monk of the province yesterday on suspicion of stealing 110 million baht over nine years from local temple funds in collusion with a missing former chief of the National Office of Buddhism.
Police searched the living quarters of Phra Sitthi Woranayok, abbot of Wat Khao Durian in tambon Khao Phra of Muang district, at about 6 a.m. on Friday. The abbot is also the deputy monastic chief of Nakhon Nayok.
He was charged with embezzling about 110 million baht of development funds intended for local temples from 2007 to 2016 in a conspiracy with Nopparat Benjawatananun, the missing person.

AVIATION TOURISM

In May. And Saudia may fly directly to Bangkok in May, also.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is also preparing to launch tourism marketing campaigns to attract Saudi tourists. Last year, there were 467 of them.
