Casual days at Bangkok schools? It's possible.
Good morning, good morning, good morning on Sunday of August 7.
I bet you don't remember what happened on August 7 of 1782, do you? Probably slept through it, right? Well, it was the day that General George Washington invented the very first U.S. military decoration, called the Badge of Military Merit now called the Purple Heart.
Well, enough of that, then.
Bangkok City Hall closed 83 of the bars, pubs and clubs in the city, on the off chance they might catch on fire and kill another 15 people like that fire last week in Sattahip.
The closures are 'temporary' until owners get their establishments up to code.
The biggest failure, cited by Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipung:
failure to ensure that fire exists were clearly visible.
In Chon Buri province, site of the deadly Mountain B pub fire, the top-ranking five policemen were transferred to inactive duty.
Which might not end the police-protection shakedown racket for bars, pubs and so on.

The need to dress

The city's deputy governor Sanont Wangsangboon said the 'Casual Day Rule' might be issued within two weeks.
"Bangkok has 437 schools, 34 libraries, local museums and more under its jurisdiction."

Yes, demands.

People in America should not be allowed to disagree with regime policy or the regime leader.
Yes, allowed.

There is strong public opinion that Prayut must quit by next August, 2023.
There is also a strong legal case that Prayut must quite by April of 2025.
The strongest opinion so far, backed by all the known guns in Thailand, is that Prayut will quit when he damn pleases.
Here is the unravelling of some of those opinions.

Study says children are falling behind
The Equitable Education Fund (EEF) and Research Institute for Policy Evaluation and Design (Riped), which recently conducted a study on the development of young children and assessed their skills in three areas: language, maths and executive functions.
Associate Professor Weerachart Kilenthong, director of Riped, said for example:
Children are also found to read less while spending more time playing video games or watching TV programmes.
Families are also found to read less to children.
"The pandemic has caused learning loss even in young children. It's time for everyone concerned to work together in addressing this problem.

"Thailand is not immune to the constant and unpredictable impact of climate change."
The rise in the sudden onset of events such as floods and droughts, and more slowly moving events such as sea-level rises and change in levels of precipitation, are now affecting the livelihoods of many people."
And he added, "In 2021, Thailand was ranked the world’s ninth-most-affected country in regards to the long-term impacts of climate change."

DAVID SOLWAY: 'You'll Own Nothing'—and Like It. Or Will You?
The much-circulated slogan "You will own nothing, and you will be happy" was coined by Danish MP Ida Auken in 2016 and included in a 2016 essay published by the purveyors of the so-called "Great Reset" at the World Economic Forum (WEF) headquartered in Davos, Switzerland. It is, of course, only half true. Nonetheless, the phrase is certainly apt and should be taken seriously. For once the Great Reset has been put in place, we will indeed own nothing except our compelled compliance.
The world's farmers and cattle raisers, deprived of their livelihoods on the pretext of reducing nitrogenic fertilizers and livestock-produced methane, will own next to nothing. Meat and grain will become increasingly rare and we will be dining on cricket goulash and mealworm mash, an entomorphagic feast. We will be driving distance-limited electric vehicles rented from the local Commissariat and digitally monitored by Cyber Central—assuming we will still be allowed to drive. Overseen by a cadre of empowered financial managers who can "freeze" our assets at any time, we will possess bank accounts and credit ratings, but they will not be really ours.
