China no longer has one aircraft carrier
Out of bed, kids! Rise and Shine to face the 126th week of Covid enjoyment.
Good morning from East Nong Bon Thailand, all. It's Monday, and the start of the 126th week of Covid enjoyment. Or the 882nd day if you prefer - 2 years, 4 months and 30 days.

CORONAVIRUS DPRK
North Korea reported Sunday that daily infections of Covid dropped below 20,000 and who knows? Maybe that's truthful.
State media said that since late April, confirmed Covid cases totalled 4.62 million, which could be true.
But Korea also reported a major outbreak of some sort of intestinal disease.
"Intestinal diseases such as typhoid and shigellosis are not particularly new in North Korea but what's troubling is that it comes at a time when the country is already struggling from Covid-19," said professor Shin Young-jeon at Hanyang University's College of Medicine in Seoul.

Subtle diplomatic dance
A former Thai ambassador hopes to make you believe that last week's visit to Thailand by U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin underscored Washington's recognition of Thailand as a significant player in the region's security.
... In one sense, Thailand matters economically to the US which is keen to sell its weapons. The sales would help reduce the US's trade deficit with Thailand.
 and
Next year's Cobra Gold, likely to resume as full-scale war games now that Covid-19 is receding, is meant to unnerve China.

THAILAND ROYALTY
Thai police have charged one of the country's leading critics of royal power with defaming the royal family.
Piyabutr Saengkanokkul, secretary-general of the Progressive Movement, will spend today being interrogated by Dusit district police.
Piyabutr is a leading critic of "Section 112", Thailand's Criminal Code section that defines the crime of harming the king and royal family with words.
Police have already warned that if "too many people show up" at the police station to support Piyabutr, they will mobilise police forces to oppose them.
Piyabutr has already been charged with sedition.

SOCIAL JUSTICE VIRTUE MONKEYPOX
China's World Health Organization (WHO?) now says there is no difference between epidemic and endemic for monkeypox.
The WHO(?) will host a meeting on Thursday to think up a new and virtuous name for monkeypox, and decide whether to declare monkeypox as "a public health emergency of international concern".
There are 2,103 known cases of monkeypox in 23 countries, none of which is Thailand.
ALSO, if you have monkeypox or you fear you might have monkeypox - have sex fully clothed.

RUSSIA EUROPE SCANDINAVIA
Russian navy violates Danish territorial waters. And of course denies it. Report by Reuters:
A Russian warship early on Friday twice violated Danish territorial waters north of the Baltic Sea island of Bornholm where a democracy festival attended by senior officials and business people was taking place, the Danish Armed Forces said.
Denmark called the action an unacceptable provocation. The Russian embassy in Copenhagen said the Danes provided no evidence.

The world faces widespread starvation. Here's how Canada is seizing an opportunity — and may help avert a crisis
In theory at least, Canada has what it takes to solve some of the world's most urgent problems right now, and to boost our own prosperity while we're at it. We have an abundance of oil, gas, grain and fertilizer at a time when the world is desperate for more of all those things, and faces widespread poverty and starvation without them.
But Canada has been slow to respond.

OUT OF RASSLIN'
The WWE's Vince McMahon is out as chairman of the company.
His board is investigating 'misconduct with an employee' (i.e. female rassler) that went from dirty to full-out sexual. The gal has not been identified.
Vince's daughter Stephanie stepped up to take over daddy's chair, and it's also a boost for her hubby, ever-ambitious Paul Levesque, aka Triple-H.
Vince showed up at both the Raw and Smackdown shows and got enthusiastic crowd noise.

BIDEN FALL
I'm awright, I'm okay, I'm good
Joe Biden, who is president of the United States, fell yet again, this time off his bicycle.
He did not require first-responder aid, which was good because his wife DOCTOR Jill has no medical ability.
To her credit, she also did not laugh.
Jill didn't crack a smile, but lots of people are in a mocking mood.

CHINA MILITARY NAVY
China no longer has an aircraft carrier.
It has three aircraft carriers.
The Fujian, named (again) for a Chinese coastal province, has a full-length flight desk and a moderen catapult. The other two carriers, Liaoning and Shandong, don't have that.
The carrier's name is significant. Fujian (nee Fukian) province is directly across the Taiwan Strait from Taiwan, the democracy that China incessantly promises to raze.

U.S.A. MILITARY NAVY
Weird. Downright weird.
The Navy is firing a lot of officers and saying almost nothing about it
For example
Since May 31, six commanding officers and one command master chief have lost their jobs.

New park in central Bangkok gives Thais needed green space
