Runaway Runway The eventual opening of a third runway at Suvarnabhumi airport (BKK) is going to cost taxpayers a few truckloads of cash. The government-owned Airports of Thailand PLC is figuring and negotiating with businesses and those pesky homeowners near the swampy airport over how much to pay for their inconvenience when the third runway opens, soon. Runway 3 is parallel to the first, on the west side of the airport -- 4,000 metres and 60 metres wide. Plans are to use it mostly for incoming commercial planes of all sizes.
Runways 1 and 2 will be used for departures.
Current runway capacity: 68 planes per hour. Future capacity (soon): 94 aircraft per hour.

iCON FRAUD ARRESTS Two more high-level arrests in iCon pyramid scheme con job (no pun intended) Politician-businessman Big-fraud police arrested politician/businessman Samart Janechaijittawanich and his mother Wilawan Phutthasamrit and charged them with money-laundering the profits of the iCon scam group. Samart was a close associate of the top four army generals of the nine-year military dictatorship. He fled his Bangkok home so fast after hearing that there was an arrest warrant out for him that he didn't even turn off his home's air conditioning.
