PLANNERS ISLANDS ENTERTAINMENT
Self-styled 'urban planners' announced a plan on Wednesday to make an 'entertainment cluster' out of three islands in the Gulf of Thailand - Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan.
The three comprise a chain off the coast of Surat Thani province, around 750 kilometres south of Bangkok.
Only Samui has an airport, but all three islands are linked to the land by ferry.
Samui is a popular tourist destination; divers like 'Death Island' or Koh Tao, and Phangan is the site of the monthly 'full moon parties' and raves.
To realise the brainstorm of a mass-entertainment project would required both junta support and cooperation from the private sector.
