Hello World and all readers, welcome to delightfully warm, politically hot Nong Bon.
OUT with the young (38) Ing, IN with the old (70) deputy prime minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit.
New Thai Prime Minister Suriya is interesting. In addition to his 20-year position as deputy chief arse-kisser of Thaksin, he is the corrupt, former transport minister and uncle of the billionaire founder of Thailand's progressive movement Thanatorn Jungrungreangkit, currently the leftist People's Party -- who, in 2022 was barred from all politics for life by the Constitutional Court for criticising the ruling military dictatorship.
Thailand's military-appointed Constitutional Court just unelected the first elected prime minister in 11 years.
Paetongtarn Shinawatra, better known as 'Ung Ing' was booted out on Monday.
The nine judges spent almost an hour before deciding to dismiss Paetongtarn by a secret 7-2 vote. Neither their ruling nor the dissents will ever be made public.
There's one story-sidebar: whether the judges opened Thailand to another military coup.
As is said so commonly: Thailand elects prime ministers; Bangkok overthrows them.
If you love The Associated Press, here's their backgrounder.
How do you know it's summer in Bangkok? The rain's warmer
I apologise if the approach I took was unsatisfactory.-- Paetongtarn Shinawatra, ex-prime minister.
About that phone call with the Khmer Rouge loyalist who tapped it:
"I was thinking only about a way to prevent clashes and casualties. I insist that I had no ill intentions."
SIDEBAR
The Constitutional Court kicked Paetongtarn out of office as prime minister of Thailand, subject to recall.
One day before, Paetongtarn submitted the new 'Ing 2 cabinet' to His Majeste, who approved. Therefore,
Paetongtarn alias Ung Ing will continue as a member of the Thai government, as Minister of Culture.

GLOBAL WARMING
Shattered Green Dreams
One of the worst things about wind and solar energy is that they are terrible for the environment. The principal reason for this is that, apart from being intermittent, they are low-intensity. This means that even when they do produce electricity, it is in ridiculously small amounts. As a result, it takes an enormous number of wind turbines and solar panels to generate a perceptible amount of electricity

Post-war Defence Reforms
THE PERFORMANCE of the U.S. military since the end of World War II has led some people to question its ability to defeat an enemy in war. Critics have claimed that the Pentagon cannot devise successful military operations; they cite Korea, Vietnam, and the aborted Iranian hostage rescue mission as examples of our post-war military malady.
One consequence of these failures has been the emergence of a "military reform" movement: a loose alliance of defense analysts, members of Congress, congressional staff members, journalists, and some military officers. These reformers are critical of established policies in a number of areas, including strategy, tactics, doctrine, force structures, weapons acquisition, and defence organisation.
