Is 'dumbass' one word, or two?
Girls and boys and all the rest of you, please settle down to greet Weekend 146 since the 'Wuhan Virus' killed the first victim outside China.
It's a noteworthy anniversary for me, marking the first day I woke up in Thailand. I have lived in Thailand longer than most Thais.
Exactly 371 years ago, in the last battle of the English Civil War, Cromwell's 'New Model' army beat the crap out of English and Scottish forces.
In New York 189 years ago, the presses rolled at the New York Sun, the world's first daily newspaper.
In 1939, Germany invaded Poland. The Brits declared war, followed instantly by Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Canada. Hitler ordered the invasions of Britain, but it didn't work out for him. But on this day in 1944 Hitler ordered that Anne Frank be sent to Auschwitz.
The world's first TV channel KYW began broadcasting from Philadelphia.
In 1945, Japanese troops in the Philippines surrendered.
Bring in ... that guilty woman
Myanmar's ruling Tatmadaw dictatorship is ensuring that Aung San Suu Kyi will never again see freedom.
Again on Friday... the regime took her to court and charged her with electral fraud during the 2020 election.
The judge sentenced her to another three years in the Insein Prison shithole - and hard labour.

THAILAND POLITICS
Dictionary definition of dumbass. Or dumb ass, whichever is correct.
The man is German, 35 years old. He is married to a Thai woman, and they live in Rayong.
He thought it would be a terrific show of love for Thai people to take a mutilated photo the current "caretaker prime minister" Prawit Wongsuwon and display it to all.
Although "he thought" is not the correct phrase.

The Channel 7 caption says: I pity Thai people.
UPDATE
On Friday evening, Rayong police went to see the man at his home. They checked his passport and visa.
They told him that if he continued the political nonsense, he would probably lose his visa. That would mean he was effectively kicked out of the country.
The German and his wife left last night for Bangkok, where they planned to take part in anti-junta protests on Saturday and Sunday.

This (next) story is not a joke, it's seriously serious and true.
For the joke, scroll way down to 'Luck of the Irish'
Thailand junta's anointed 'minister of justice' Somsak Thepsuthin has such a deal.
For sex offenders...
IF they plead guilty in court and agree to wear an electronic location-monitor on their ankle for 10 years.
THEN the court could order a chemical castration and a reduced prison sentence.

Pandemic recovery and sustainability are on the agenday.
The APEC CEO Summit is scheculed for November 16-18, in Bangkok. Apec political leaders are expected to attend.
Poj Aramwattananont, chairman of the summit and a member of the Apec Business Advisory Council (Abac) Thailand:
“The meeting is a perfect opportunity to search for solutions to tackle current business challenges faced by the Asia-Pacific region and the world.
"The summit will be instrumental in helping Apec leaders to tackle short-term issues, particularly the impacts of rising inflation, the energy and food crisis, sustainability, and how to rehabilitate economies after the deadly pandemic."

SRI LANKA CEYLON DIPLOMACY
For the second time in three weeks...
The deposed ex-president of Sri Lanka claimed he is ready to pack up, end his Bangkok exile and fly back to Colombo.
Today.
The 73-year-old Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled the island under military guard in July after a huge crowd stormed his official residence. He insists he is bankrupt but someone has been paying for his 5-star hotel in Bangkok.
A 'defence source' in Colombo who said he has been in touch with Rajapaksa's aides said:
We are told he will return very early on Saturday [i.e. today].
We have just created a new security division to protect him after his return.
THAILAND CORONAVIRUS RECOVERY TOURISM
Tourism recovery held back by few flights
Thailand's ruling junta identified a new bogeyman, responsible for the slow recovery of the tourism industry
Summary from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT):
With international flights reaching only 40% of pre-pandemic levels, Thai tourism must wait for a clearer outlook, particularly with the government budget running dry.

He's ba-a-ck!
The flamboyant founder of the second largest computer chip maker in the world made clear his anti-communism.
Robert Tsao, 75, showed off a huge copy of his Taiwan ID card, capping a 30-year fight over nationality. To get his ID back, he had to renounce Singaporeian nationality.
Tsao dug into his pocked and donated one (1) billion-with-a-"b" New Taiwan dollars to finance a new crop of 3 million 'civilian warriors' to fingh any Chinese invasion.
Tsao said he does not want Taiwan to be another communist Hong Kong. He hopes for a future Asia where Taiwan would be a land of freedom and home for the brave.
