Interviews by American officials have begun and the first group of Burmese could be on their way to the United States before New Year's Eve.
More than 80,000 refugees from Myanmar told officials they wanted to resettle and are deemed eligible.
Interviews are taking place in two of the smaller refugee camps in Thailand -- Ban Don Yang and Tham Hin which host about 8,750 refugees combined.
