Only 3 years to go until Jomtien/Pattaya beach is open again
Rons, Ettes, good morning to y'all. It is the morn of Tuesday, August the twoth.
Please stop jibber-jabbing and will get this Fishwrap under way.
Popular Jomtien-Pattaya beach set to reopen. Soon. In three years. Or so.
The 3.5-kilometre-long
Na Jomtien beach in Pattaya City is expected to fully reopen to tourists in 2025 when the iconic beach is fully fortified by sand fences in a coastal erosion prevention project initiated in 2020.
AGRICULTURE HEALTH RICE
Just one problem
Anti-GMO Luddites will try to get it banned:
Genetically engineered rice needs less fertilizer, makes more food

This rice is a 'Mostly China' project - part of an overall programme by the Middle Kingdom to produce plants that need less nitrogen. But it's definitely not ALL-China. For one thing, CRISPR was used.

This is from Thailand's Ministry of Public Health and seems much, much closer to the truth than the daily number still being shoved out.

PM must quit 'this month'
A political activist group has called on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to 'abide by the law' and step down from his leadership position when his term expires on August 24.
BUT
There's a major debate over this, and it seems clear that it won't force Prayut to quit.

THAILAND ACTIVISTS JUNTA PROTEST REVOLUTION
Sounds like a plan
Seems like the 12-episode thriller Andor might be just the ticket for Thailand's anti-junta reform activists. What The Ugly American was to the 1973 Thailand revolution.
Official Andor trailer shows us what the birth of a revolution looks like

PHUKET THAILAND TOURISM
There are red flags along the beach, and lifeguards constantly warn tourists - anyone in a bathing suit.
The rip tides off southern Vietnam beaches, particularly along the Andaman Sea including Phuket, are powerful killers.

Your meth is in the mail
There has never been a time in the history of narcotics trafficking where the narcs were faster or better than the traffickers.
Proof, if any were needed...
A current trick is for the massive army of street-corner dope sellers to stick the narcotics package in the mail, and let Thailand Post handle the delivery.

The word is conspicuously absent from media coverage of the monkeypox outbreak.
Even though
Almost every victim of the disease is gay and hopelessly addicted to "many partners" - as in 'I heart gay orgies'.

QUESTION ASKED
Why haven't the Washington Post (Democracy dies in darkness) or The New York Times (All the news that's fit to print) demanded the court-sealed records of Jeffrey Epstein and his pimp Ghislaine Maxwell? Which contain the client list of paedos and perverts that they served on that unicorn island and elsewhere?
You'd think, if you were a newsperson with an actual brain, that it would possibly be newsworthy to know and report the identity of said paedos and pervs.
But those two newspapers and their owners and employees are not just content but thrilled NOT to know the clients' list of the two bent, degenerative abusers.
I'm no fan of Whataboutism but consider for 10 seconds...
If Trump had been a friend of these two blackguards, or if Trump had one time flown aboard the 'Lolita Express' - do you think the Washington Post and The New York Times would be content and complacent that the judge put the lists of friends and passengers under a lifetime seal? So why are they?
Oh, incidentally. When the subject comes up, Ghislaine Maxwell did not kill herself.
THAILAND POLITICS
Former Bangkok Post editor Veera Prateepchaikulk writes in an Oped
Vote buying does not ensure success
Vote buying in parliament is an ugly form of dirty politics which normally rears its head during a censure debate, especially on the last day, before a vote is to be taken.
It erodes representative democracy like rust in the steel. Yet it seems that we, I mean, both the politicians and the public, have accepted this shameful practice as a fait accompli.

WEST TAIWAN BEIJING PELOSI TAIWAN
The state- and Communist Party-controlled media in west Taiwan has gone into Full-Blown Crazy Conspiracy Mode.
Lu Xiang (呂祥), an expert on American issues at the state-run Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, said in an interview with the Global Times that the delegation's itinerary does not include a visit to Taiwan.
Lu thought Pelosi and other delegation members could still land on the island during their trip using an excuse such as an aircraft mechanical issue, and the consequences of such a deceptive visit by the delegation would be equally serious.
[REUTERS] China warns its military will 'not sit idly by' if Pelosi visits Taiwan
The latest warning was issued Monday during a Chinese foreign ministry regular briefing.
Spokesperson Zhao Lijian also said that because of Pelosi's status as the "No. 3 official of the U.S. government", a visit to Taiwan, which China claims as its own, would "lead to egregious political impact".

It is an environmental success story. But there are caveats.
Caveat 1: If a tiger eats you, don't blame the tiger. Blame Global Warming.
Example: Tigers in one park in Nepal consumed 16 humans in one year.

A Texas judge has ordered "grossly negligent" Spectrum Cable to pay more than $7 billion in damages to the family of an 83-year-old woman who was murdered.
Murdered in Irving, Texas, by the Spectrum installer who installed, and then the next day returned wearing his uniform, murdered the old lady, stole her credit and debit cards and went on a shopping spree.
Spectrum says the judge is a dope. What do you think? The killer pleaded guilty and got life.

HISTORY
True Story: Dinosaur Footprints Discovered in Chinese Restaurant
A restaurant in the Sichuan province of China is the latest place where a customer correctly identified evidence of a dinosaur’s presence millions of years after the creatures in question walked the earth.
Two weeks ago, scientists verified that what the diner had identified as dinosaur tracks were exactly that - the footprints made 100 million years ago by two dinosaurs. Xing told the Post that she thinks that the dinosaurs were Titanosauriformes — a large sauropod species. The presence of “Titan” in its scientific name is no coincidence - these were massive creatures.

'non-operable' is one way to put it
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) Chairman Mark Liu (劉德音) has warned that the economies on both sides of the Taiwan Strait will plunge into turmoil should China invade Taiwan.
CNN on Monday (August 1) broadcast a video interview with Liu, titled "Can China afford to attack Taiwan?" Liu noted chipmaking will no longer be "the most important thing we should be worried about" if Beijing were to attack Taiwan.
Liu also urged Beijing to think twice before taking any action as China accounts for 10% of TSMC’s business. Describing its consumer pool as important and vibrant, Liu said “They need us, and it’s not a bad thing.” This means any interruption of the supply chains will cause economic turmoil on either side, he stressed.
