Despite much criticism, the cabinet has decided to go ahead with its expensive fertiliser co-payment scheme.
The scheme -- which will use almost 30 billion baht* in state funding -- will subsidise fertiliser costs at a rate of 500 baht per rai for farmers with a maximum of 20 rai for the 2024/25 planting season.
*Current exchange rate: 37 Thai baht per U.S. dollar
Importantly, the scheme's opponents raise a crucial question: Are farmers the real beneficiaries of this expensive subsidy? Or is it a group of agro giants?
And there's an important codicil for Thailand.

The report released by the U.N. Trade and Development (UNCTAD) asserts,

Korean Air Boeing 737 MAX 8 scares the heck out of passengers (and crew)
aboard a 'routine' Seoul-to-Taipei flight.
The notoriously crashable aeroplane was flying a 'routine flight' over Korea when suddenly
it simply depressurised, turned terrestrial and plunged 27,000 feet in 15 minutes and then pilots regained control.
Seventeen (17) passengers were injured and sent to hospital. The need for new underwear was not reported.
 but the Boeing MAX 8 plane failed to kill any of them.
