Former Myanmar citizen, now American Thura Kyaw, 33, slipped as he followed his Thai girlfriend to a restaurant in Thalang district, and grabbed a streetlight pole to steady himself,
which zapped and killed him with a 220V live wire.
A dozen Thais rushed to help. At great personal risk and some shocks, they freed him from the pole but the New Yorker was dead on the spot. For example, eyewitness Phiew:

Suicide by high-speed train
KAOHSIUNG: A woman walked into the path of an incoming High Speed Rail train, and died instantly.
PHOTO is the train involved, at the exact site of the incident in the deep south of Taiwan.
Taiwan High Speed Rail is working with railway police to investigate. There was no disruption to railway service.
