Thai pilots organise against foreigners Â
The Thai Pilots Association strongly opposes a government proposal to temporarily ease restrictions on foreign pilots flying for Thai carriers.
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said on Thursday that one major obstacle for the tourism sector has been the slow resumption in flights. A post-pandemic personnel shortage has been one of the reasons cited by airlines worldwide.
The government has already asked airlines to increase flights and expand their fleets to help spur the recovery of tourism, he said during a visit to the Thai offices of Agoda, the world’s largest travel booking platform.

Court to consider Move Forward case on June 12 (Wednesday)
The Constitutional Court said that it had accepted the written defence from the Move Forward Party in its dissolution case and would consider the matteron June 12.
Election victor MFP faces a campaign by the dictator-appointed Election Commission.
The party's election campaign proposed to amend or abolish Article 112, the ridiculously harsh Thai lese majeste law -- and that is now against the law.
If the court decides against the progressives, they will face a total ban on the political party and 10-year bans on party leaders, including the almost prime minister Pita Limjaroenrat (left, below).

Move Forward case reveals autocracy
The Constitutional Court's announcement that it will consider the Move Forward Party's (MFP) written defence in its dissolution caseon June 12ornext Wednesdayappears ominous. After several attempts to make its argument that a campaign pledge to amend the lese majeste law against royal insult is not tantamount to "overthrowing Thailand's democratic regime with the King as head of state", the party's time is up.
The MFP's dissolution is perceived as a foregone conclusion. Such a revelation might risk Thailand being perceived as an autocratic regime based on legal manoeuvres, and power plays that do not derive from voter preferences.
Harvard grad Pita Limjaroenrat (above) who came so close to being prime minister a year ago, faces a probable lifetime ban from Thai politics.

Scholars agree, as they always do, that
China will continue to try to squeeze Taiwan for another 10 days.
Last Friday, China announced a plan to suspend the preferential tariff rates for a total of 134 Taiwanese imports that had been part of the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA), effectivefrom June 15.
Beijing's announcement drew an immediate protest from Taiwan, with the country's Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) calling Beijing's plan a "unilateral" decision made without consulting Taiwan.
Taiwanese scholars specialising in cross-strait relations said that Beijing's economic measure, including 'military exercises' around Taiwan and its outlying islands from May 23-24, were part of a series of "expected" actions after the inauguration of a new president by Taiwan.
