Thai Citizens to Pollsters: Prawit's performance 'underwhelms'
Wakey-wakey fellow kids. It's Monday September 12 and you know what that means:
Another week, another pittance
Anti-junta demonstrations continue, daily
Up until now: completely peaceful.
PHOTO: The top photo, below shows preparations for an evening protest by activists, at the Democracy Monument. The wrapped objects represent members of the junta's alleged "government".
NOTE that demonstrations at that site are banned.
Photo below: As the rally got into full swing, the effigies of the 'cabinet ministers' were burnt, as the protestors cheered. Riot police watched from a distance.
Prawit speaks
The new junta-approved "caretaker prime minister" and former army commander Prawit Wongsuwon took a walk and purposely made himself the target of a media ambush. Just a short one; the man's obese and doesn't navigate well.
The things he said, which everyone already knew, and quite conveniently all of them are the fault of his old bff Prayjut.
The Thai economy is fragile and there's too much inflation. The junta is running a deficit economy and non-performing debt is rising.

POLITICS POLLS
Prawit's performance 'underwhelms'
The weekly Nida Poll by the National Institute of Development Administration (Nida) showed Thais giving a huge 'MEH' to this question:
What do you think of the performance of 'caretaker prime minister' Prawit Wongsuwon in the wake of Prayut's setback?
Is it appropriate for Prawit to reshuffle the junta's so-called 'government cabinet'?
NO: 59%
Is it appropriate for Prawit to dissolve the House of Representatives and call a quick election?
YES: 80%
Are you satisfied with Prawit's performance as temporary acting prime minister?
NO: 22%
HELL, NO: 42%
SINK OR SWIM
And what do you think of the performance of Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt with all this heavy rain and flooding that's going on in Bangkok?

EVERYTHING IS GOING SWIMMINGLY

RAIN EAST DISASTER
Governor Channa Iamsaeng of Rayong province, just past Pattaya on the road to the East, bordering the Gulf of Thailand, declaimed a disaster in four of the province's districts - including Rayong town.
Just an estimate but "tens of thousands" of homes are damaged or destroyed. As of this morning, more than 100 homes have no electricity.

THAILAND POLITICS TOURISM
Poramase Ngampiches, mayor of Pattaya City, said out loud what everyone but hardcore prohibitionists already think:
The 1971 law against selling alcoholic beverages every afternoon from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. is unacceptable - arguably nonsensical.
Poramase The mayor said he was starting a campaign to wipe that regulation off the books, completely.
His quiet campaign will also demand that night spots be permitted to stay open until 4 a.m. - not the 1 a.m. currently permitted.
I fully support the two ideas. Pattaya is a world-class destination for tourism. Most venues are back to business now, and they are eager to service customers till 4 a.m. I am willing to let Pattaya pioneer the two policies.

TOURISM SKYWALK KANCHANABURI
The Skywalk Over The River Kwai
It's true: PPPPPP
The brand-new, 150-metre glass-bottomed Skywalk-Walking Street along the Kwae Yai riverbank had to close before it officially opened on Saturday, and closed on Sunday.
The glass surface requires everyone to wear covers over their shoes/sandals to prevent scuffs and dirt.
But the alleged "planners" forgot to install enough shoe-cover dispensers, so until new ones arrive you can look at the skywalk but you can't walk on it.

They took a poll in Isan - the northeast of Thailand, asking one simple question: Who do you like for the next prime minister?
The clear winner was Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, who only announced her ambition 10 days ago.
Second was Paetongtarn Shinawatra, baby daughter of the fugitive Thaksin.
Flamboyant progressive leader and anti-junta activist came in just behind Paetongtarn.
Notable was 'tail-behind Charlie' Prayut, with a bare 12% of favourable replies.
