Thai civic groups call for harsher penalties for drunk driving, speeding

THAILAND OPINION ANALYSIS
The whole month of December holidays is coming, then New Year's Eve.
Road safety can't wait
This coming Sunday November 25 is World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims -- of whom a staggering 17,498 were on the roads, highways and byways of The Kingdom in the past year -- such as PHOTO below.
Civic groups in Thailand have proposed five recommendations to the government. Three of these focus on increasing criminal penalties for drivers violating traffic-related laws in cases leading to serious accidents, driving under the influence, and failing to stop at a pedestrian crossing, causing an accident.
[Although it is unclear how worse penalties and prison sentences will actually help.]
Virulent anti-Thaksin, anti-Pheu Thai (ruling) Party lawyer-cum-unbending political activist Teerayut Suwankesorn (photo).
Is he political role-player or just another well-groomed, highly cologned lawfarer?
by Chairith Yonpiam, assistant news editor, Bangkok Post
Teerayut is a long-enraged anti-Thaksinite, smooth as silk and rough as a new diamond who believes of Thaksin that his never-ending Process Is the Punishment.
He currently alleges, and demands a Constitutional Court answer within two weeks that Thaksin and the ruling Pheu Thai (For Thais) Party have tried to overturn the democratic system based on the King as the Head of State.
If you do not accept those principles, Teerayut had several others.
ALSO THAKSIN
Founder of Thailand's 'progressive' leftists and personal billionaire Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit says Thaksin is talking tripe by saying he and daughter Ung Ing and his Pheu Thai Party 'cannot work with' those progressives, currently self-known by the Leninist label Forward Party.
Thanathorn is tippy-toeing on a tightrope. The military dictators' supreme court, known officially as Constitutional Court has tossed Thanathorn out of all politics until at least 2032.

When a powerful country comes courting, a smaller country is wise not to reject the courtship out of hand.
Beijing has repeatedly urged Bangkok to inject some speed into a delay-ridden rail project designed to connect Thailand to China via Laos by high-speed train. It's strongly unclear just when -- or even If -- China intends to switch from constant urging to more direct action.
China owns and operates most of Laos and Burma and Brunei, and is making strong and mortal moves against the Philippines. Is Thailand on the list?
As Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi put it to the Thais earlier this year,
The two sides should speed up the development of the China-Thailand Railway and push for an early realisation of the China-Laos-Thailand Connectivity Development Corridor.
Gobbledygook, yes, but with an implicit warning.
Thailand's Fields of Ghost Stories
The Top Three Ghosts, no doubt, are Mae Nak, Phee Pob and Phee Krasue with more than a hundred TV soaps and full movies, not to mention twice that many books and hundreds of "studies" and news reports.
Creative Economy Agency (CEA) on latest figures:
Mae Nak has appeared in more than 40 films and TV series while Phee Pob is seen in 30-plus flicks and soaps.
CEA and Associate Professor/lecturer Aphilak Kasempholkoon of Mahidol University are mortified by the unbalanced numbers. They are already at work on The Untold Story: a three-parter on Reviving Local Ghost Folklore, Greeting New Ghost Characters; and Preparing For Debut.
Monnapa Panichkriangkrai, CEA exhibition curator and senior 'knowledge management officer' (PHOTO) says-ai-will-be-laughably-bad-in-year-2024-5 The Untold Storydemonstrates the potential of local Thai ghosts that have never presented before.

DESPERATION USA TECHNOLOGY
The U.S. Department of Commerce under (still) President Joseph Biden and Gina Raimondo agreed yesterday to pay Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company or TSMC and its chief Morris Chang of beautiful Hsinchu city yet another US$3 billion to entice them into building a third fab in Arizona.
Most countries including Taiwan do not use 10-wheeled truckloads of taxpayers' money for such bribes.
Neither does Thailand, although the Bangkok government presents Yyuuuge tax breaks for big investors and is doing that right now for Google and Microsoft and Huawei.
Excellent but biased upbeat by GPec
TSMC is working right now on new 2-nm chips, which it will bring to market in about six months or so.
No one else in the world can do this, especially the United States which has watched fab after fabrication plant collapse and burn, and now Biden seems to believe he can catch up.
The Communist Party of China, closest competitor above America and Biden, just this week ordered the country to celebrate another small sale of its 7-nm chips, the smallest made by communist-supervised fabs.
Wednesday Morning Joke
Is this a joke told previously? Well, if so, who cares? It's a golden goodie.
A man walks into a bar... yeah, the usual joke opening, eh? Anyhows...
A man walks into a bar and sees a big tough guy standing next to a glass and
some lemons.
Curious he asks, "What's with the lemons?"
The bartender replied, "It's a challenge thisguy here is the strongest man in the world he'll squeeze as much juice from half a lemon as he can and if you can squeeze out even one more drop, you win free drinks for a year."
The man watches other strong guys try and they all fail. Feeling brave he says, "I accept that." The bartender laughs because the man is small and thin.
The strongman squeezes the lemon and fills almost a third of the glass, then hands the lemon to the little guy -- who gives it a squeeze and gets out almost five drops.
The strongman is shocked. "Ow you're stronger than you look."
"I went easy on you," says the the small man.
All right, try again. The strongman puts in extra effort and squeezes the lemon for 3 minutes, then hands it back to the little guy. The small man squeezes out another three drops. Now even the bartender is amazed. "You get free drinks for a year, like I promised, but geeze, what's your secret?"
The small man grins. "I'm a CRA agent."

If the remarkably stupidly uninformed and self-described know-nothing "reporter" Tara cannot quickly prove that she is not white supremacistd and never has taken money from an Aryan Power group, she should be volunteered or forced by The AP to Learn to Code, where at least her writing will not appear in public.
But the Rufo tweet is how the stupid, press-smear game should be played.
In the meantime, every line of every story that The AP chooses to published from Tara should be widely disseminated, subjected to both Fisk and Ridiculed.

TECHNOLOGY
Giddy from the Lima elevation and 39 hours cooped up in areoplanes from Bangkok, a clearly stunted Prime Minister Paethongtarn "Shorty" Shinawatra jibber-jabbered a promise to B-List bigwigs at the APEC summit that she will perform a Digital Transformation of the entire Thailand.
Needless to Say but anyhows: Such transformation has kind-of but not-really begun by the lame-brained ruling Party Of 2 Thaksins Man-And-Girl's promise to give every citizen 10,000 baht by May of this year, which has transformed into a crippled Digital Wallet and has barely begun distribution because militar dictators turned Thailand into the economic Sick Man of ASEAN, with money for any such political platforming.
I intend to pursue the digital transformation of Thailand.
Right but she's in a deep hole, still digging. If she now attempts to inform the country of her so-far conceited plan, there will be ramifications. If she continues to keep as quiet as Kamala but attempt to 'transform' silently, she will suffer ramifications.
