SUNRISE: After twice rising from the dead this year, the Oilers let history slip through their outstretched fingers.
Oilers and everyone in Edmonton struggle to process the result.

HUMAN RIGHTS
Julian Assange Walks
He left Belmarsh maximum security prison on the morning of 24 June, after having spent 1901 days there. He was granted bail by the High Court in London and was released at Stansted airport during the afternoon, where he boarded a plane and departed the U.K.
Assange agreed to plead guilty to violating the United States Espionage Act, in exchange for release from prison.
After more than five years in a 2x3 metre cell, isolated 23 hours a day, he will soon reunite with his wife Stella Assange, and their children, who have only known their father from behind bars.

A statement from the bank, without attribution, repeated yet again
Interest rates and the inflation target are currently both at appropriate levels.

Thailand recharges Myanmar policy
New Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa now states, publicly, that Thailand's 'first priority' is to maintain stability and peace along the Thai-Myanmar border. And also: Thailand and ASEAN colleagues will continue to search for a solution.
Thailand (he said) must shoulder thousands of displaced Myanmar people who have fled conflict across the border.
But Thailand has no rational policy on how to deal with this.

TINY but SIGNIFICANT factlets:
The number of Myanmar buyers of Thai condominiums has grown rapidly in the past two years to the point where they have overtaken Russians and are now second to Chinese buyers.

The extreme heat of Saudi Arabia has killed hundreds, not 14 Jordanians as previously reported.
Fishwrap regrets the error.
Curious fact: Most of the recorded heatstroke deaths were Egyptian illegal aliens who sneaked into Saudi Arabia by using fake visas produced by a fake-document mill in Cairo.

Newton's thunder bird finally has a face. (Natural History Museum)
The Australian bird -- seven feet tall and weighing more than two hundred kilos - - was first discovered as partial fossil remains in 1896, with a complete skull found in 1913. But that skull was so distorted that it was hard to identify precisely what kind of bird it was.
Now much better-preserved examples have been found.
It's a goose.
