Thailand's government and its knack for self-sabotage

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin (front and centre in the PHOTO with cabinet ministers) do not have their minds on rational, national policies.
It is doubtful that the belated arrival of an influential legal eagle -- straight out of the military dictatorship crew at that -- will be of much help, as Srettha is already mid-way to the political gallows. And by his own action.

THAILAND HUMAN RIGHTS DISAPPEARANCE
New campaign focuses on kidnapped, abducted human rights activists
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has exposed details of nine Thais who sought safety or political asylum in neighbouring countries during the recent military dictatorship.
All nine are officially 'Missing' -- unofficially abducted and killed for their political views.
They had sought political asylum in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam between 2017 and 2021 -- for all the good that did them..
https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2809279/The last two are known to be dead -- stuffed in barrels with concrete and found on the Mekong River bank in late 2018.
All nine were charged by General Prayut's military regime with lese majeste and illegal computer use.
The NHRC specifically states at last what everyone already knows: that fearful and/or simply arrogant Thai state agencies had failed to cooperate with the governments of the neighbouring countries to uncover the facts and pursue the cases.
So is the entire government including Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin.
OPINION ANALYSIS
An example case, from the above...
Did Boong also die in vain?
A month has passed since political activist Netiporn "Boong Thalu Wang" Saneysangkhom died in a prison hospital, and yet we still haven't seen any progress regarding the probe into her tragic passing.
Faithful bureaucrats printed a death certificate saying "heart attack." But there's a lot more than that to the death of the anti-dictatorship, anti-royalty 28 year-old.
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin expressed deep sorrow for her death and ordered the Justice Ministry to investigate the circumstances surrounding her passing. But the fact is that his government and the ruling Pheu Thai Party, despite their pre-election promises, have treated Netiporn's demands for judicial reform as a non-issue since day one. They were effectively indifferent.

THAILAND ECONOMY GIVEAWAY
Digital wallet scheme hits another snag
by Chartchai Parasuk, PhD, freelance economist
In April of last year in his election campaign billionaire realtor Srettha Thavisin 'promised' that if elected he would supervise a programme to give "every Thai citizen" (his words) a handout of 10,000 baht -- the rough equivalent of US$275.
Since then, the fantastic promise has run into glitches and snags and promises -- and exceptions -- and computerised nonsense and the number of 10,000-baht giveaways has stayed absolutely stable at zero.

which does a hella good job documenting the rise and fall of Ted Turner's World Championship Wrestling including the spectacular Monday Night Nitro show and its popular NWO group of grapplers including [in pro wrestling's greatest turn in history] Hulk Hogan.
Most of the doco is people trying to explain what happened, and there is quite a major lack of actual in-ring video. Produced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. No reason. Just reporting.

The Khao Sod company (English translation Fresh News; often cited by Fishwrap) publishes a daily broadsheet edition for subscription and street sales, and an online newspaper in English only.
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) fresh on the heels of its spectacular victory over the sometimes-fatal influenza-like pandemic of novel coronavirus centred on Wuhan, has issued a serious warning against ingestion of toxic, fresh oysters and claims from Netarts Bay and Tillamook Bay, western state of Oregon and also adjoining Washington state. They'll paralyse the eaters. Restaurants and large grocery stores in at least 8 other states have stocked the items.
The toxins can't be removed by cooking or freezing. It takes roughly about 30 minutes after you eat them for the vomiting and respiratory paralysis to begin.
So maybe stick to steak when you go out to celebrate this-or-that.

But AI is really helpful, right? (techexplore)
AI speech-to-text can hallucinate violent language. Speak a little too haltingly and with long pauses, and OpenAI's speech-to-text transcriber might put harmful, violent words in your mouth. Meh, just tell them you've got Tourettes.

That story by/from The New York Times about the sequestered Amazon tribe that got a high-speed internet connection courtesy the world's richest African-American and the whole tribe went to Hell and all the kids got addicted to porn?
BS, top to bottom, totally fake news. Even the fictional name of the fictional tribe invented by the Grey Lady is fabricated, i.e. there's no such group.
You know what? The New York Times published this fake, made-up, totally untrue story that the newspaper's conspiring writers and editors wanted to be true, on purpose. Kindly transport your apology to a place where the Sun does not shine. Apology UNaccepted. But why is there not even an explanation?
