Thailand is in a bunch of economic trouble
The baht currency is volatile again. Blame that Biden fella.
We promised everyone would get 10,000 baht, three months ago.
And now it seems they're not going to get it in May... and probably longer

There is way too much trashy goods coming into Thailand from China.
It's time to stop that. Maybe revoke our generous gesture to not charge VAT and make the Thai companies importing the crap to pay VAT right now!
Or, stop the takeover such as SF Holdings buying our best (Thai!) delivery service Kerry Express. It's all-Thai, dammit.

China was the top buyer of Thailand's exports, and it no longer is. In fact China is using Thai storage facilities to hold goods, so that overseas importers think they are ordering Thai goods -- and Thailand and Thai companies not only get nothing from that, Thai manufacturers are losing literally billions on that crookery.

THAILAND POLITICS
Progressive Party threatens major protest over Thaksin
If Thaksin is released on Sunday as scheduled, it proves he didn't even need to be in hospital.
Thaksin replied with body language. A shrug.

TRAVEL AIRPORT
Thai netizens gang up, claim the ripoffs at Phuket are out of sight.
Social media was awash with comments this week from local travellers bemoaning the high price of airfares to the island.
Airfares from Bangkok -- on budget airlines - - spiked all of a sudden to around 14,000 baht per trip.
This happened just 2-to-3 days before the planned and booked departure date.
Others kvetched they paid 5,000 baht for a one-way trip to the island despite booking weeks ahead of their scheduled date of travel.
Oh, Gee, Really?
Thanet Tantipiriyakit, president of the Phuket Tourist Association, said the tourism sector has been monitoring airfares, but has yet to find any airlines selling their tickets at prices above the ceiling price.

Even bigger complainers were foreign tourists and residents
They do not like the sudden appearance of lion cubs in restaurants and clubs,
And they took their complaints straight to social media and to police.

Prohibition hard-liners rule on whether to abolish the ban on afternoon sales of liquor and alcoholic drinks.
What you'd expect: the National Alcoholic Beverage Policy Committee smiled and ruled "Hard No!"
The committee has been working diligently for years, in small stages, to ban all alcohol, all the time, and there is no way it will vote to allow stores to sell beer and liquor to consumers.
Even the current Minister of Public Health Cholnan Srikaew has bought into the afternoon ban because alcohol causes all those deadly highweay traffic accidents as well as ordinary crime.

ASEAN INDONESIA
It seems clear that Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto, son-in-law of late dictator Suharto, has won the national election. So, ladies and gents,
Cue another erratic new leader
Like Trump, Prabowo is an unpredictable leader. He has yet to display Jokowi's ability for compromise and political manoeuvring.

USA THAILAND CURRENCY INFLATION
Good News or Bad News? Your decision
Thailand's baht currency, which slipped back below 36 to the US dollar on Wednesday, is likely to depreciate further as US inflation was higher than forecast.
This, at the same time that foreign relations expert Kavi Chongkittavorn figures there are at least 6 reasons to recalibrate Thai-US ties

Tesla Cybertruck first look: Exterior and interior review.
The Cyberbeast for 2024, with an estimated price tag of $99,990. With 845 horsepower, it will do 0-60 [zero-to-100kph] in 2.6 seconds on the way to a top speed of 130 miles per hour. Tesla estimates 320 miles for the Cyberbeast, and says it'll also tow 11,000 pounds.
It likely matters little to the first Cybertruck customers that Tesla isn’t making money off their early purchases. They get to be the first to cruise the neighborhood in a vehicle that still looks more like a concept car than something you’d expect to see on a job site or towing a boat.
It's a massively striking machine with questionable exterior finish, but reasonable interior and some solid utility, barring a few odd choices.
