There was tear gas everywhere, say survivors
Hi kids. That weekend went by too quickly, don't you think?
Here we are at Wan canthi, Senin, lunedi, lunes, Segunda-feira... Monday! That's it, October 3, 2022, Day Number 927 of the Official Emergency and Lockdown.
125 Indonesians trampled to death
Remind me again how to say 'stupid police' in Bahasa Indonesia? Oh, wait, I remember.
Polisi Bodoh
Saturday night, there was a soccer aka football match at Malang, East Java. The result of the game did not please the fans of Persebaya Surabaya, so right at the final whistle they invaded the pitch.
The polisi bodoh assigned to ensure safety went nuts, panicked like little girls and fired tear gas into the crowd on the pitch, who all fled and stampeded and crushed and stomped 125 football fans to death. Including 17 children. And badly injured 180 others, or so.

IN BRIEF
• The game ends at about 10:45 p.m. Persebaya defeated Arema 3-2.
• After the final whistle, spectators pour into the field.
• Fans throw bottles and other objects at players and football officials, and rioting spreads outside the stadium.
• At least five police cars are toppled and set ablaze and many more are damaged.
• Riot police respond with tear gas, which is banned at stadiums by FIFA, world football's governing body.

The former editor of the Bangkok Post finally writes it out loud:
Silently complicit in a far-fetched ruling
 Translation
The entire Prayut affair wasn't justice. It was fixed.
The Constitutional Court's ruling is far-fetched.
It is contrary to a glaring fact that is well known to most of us. But that is the way the law of the land, be it the constitution or other laws, works and is interpreted.
A justice in the minority of the 6-3 ruling wrote:
Not only should the law matter, but good conscience and the morals of people who are in power and tradition should be taken into account too.
because
... For many, eight years under the leadership of the "three Ps" (Prayut, deputy prime minister Prawit Wongsuwon and interior minister Anupong Paochinda) are eight wasted years for the country and its people.

 Antonio Inoki, RIP
Inoki was an athlete, a trainer, both a real and a pro rassler, died at 79.
In 1976 he challenged world heavyweight boxing champ Muhammad Ali to a fight, which became the epitome of world-class foolishness and ridiculousness.
PHOTO: Ali spent most of the bout taunting Inoki to get up and 'fight like a man' - and most of the 14,500 fans who had paid to get into Tokyo's Nippon Budokan stadium to see the farcical 'War of the World' agreed.
In 2010, he was, of course, inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

[The Monday Morning Joke]
Two statues in a park
One was a statue of of a naked man, and one of a naked woman. They had been facing each other for a hundred years across a pathway, when one day an angel comes down, and with a single gesture brings the two to life.
The angel tells them, "As a reward for being so patient through a hundred blazing summers and dismal winters, you have been given life for thirty minutes to do what you've wished to do the most."
He looks at her, she looks at him, and they go running behind the shrubbery. The angel waits patiently as the bushes rustle and giggling ensues. After fifteen minutes, the two return, out of breath and laughing.
The angel tells them, "Um, you have fifteen minutes left, would you care to do it again?" He asks her "Shall we?" She eagerly replies, "Oh, yes, let's! But let's change positions. This time, I'll hold the pigeon down and you shit on its head." (ht TNDeplorable)

An interesting idea from a trade expert at Project Syndicate:
Biden has launched a trade war against himself
[which was dumb]
U.S. President Joe Biden's protectionist trade policies are in open conflict with the rest of his domestic and foreign=policy agenda. In the name of slogans like "Buy American," the administration is making it even harder to address climate change, inflation, poverty, and the erosion of America's global standing.
