Tim Page is alive and fighting on

Tim Page is NOT dead. But the news isn't optimistic.
Sad news from a reliable old friend:
I just heard from a friend that Tim Page has died of cancer.
THAT IS PREMATURE.
But his wonderful girlfriend/caretaker Marianne writes, this morning:
Tim was diagnosed with a cancer that has spread and is quite aggressive.
He was in hospital for two weeks but is back home now. Not in pain (a bit of discomfort from the internal cameras poking around), tired, lost weight but home.
Hello... period.

Israel, Switzerland report first monkeypox cases as virus spreads
There are no reported cases of monkeypox in Thailand.
Not yet.
It's a nasty virus spread sexually.
In dire need of 'the next emergency' to exploit, Thailand's junta picks monkeypox.
'Experts' set up a centre to monitor the virus.
As of this morning, more than 100 infections have been found in 12 nations, none of which is Thailand.
Be Prepared
According to the junta's Department of Disease Control (DDC), which is almost always wrong, monkeypox is transmitted to humans through close contact with an infected person or animal, though human-to-human transmission is limited. Animal hosts include a range of rodents and non-human primates.
Dr. Opas  Karnkawinpong, director-general of the Department of Disease Control (DDC), said the centre will keep a close watch on the progress of the outbreak, despite the fact the virus has yet to be detected in Thailand.

Thailand's version of E Pluribus Unum
Out of 21 candidates, one winner of Bangkok's election for governor - former minister of transport Chadchart Sittipunt.
The populist independent was the favourite by a wide margin, and arrived to vote on his two-wheeler.
He may try (and fail abysmally) to put Bangkok's 15 million residents on two wheels.
But Sunday's actual elections in Bangkok and Pattaya exposed the harsh truth that voters reject the ruling junta and its appointed dictator Prayut.
Political cartoonists and Oped editors have all been virtually open fans of Chadchart for more than a decade.
The Monday morning cartoon features the iconic Giant Swing of Bangkok - but the headline is contentious.
The honeymoon is over before it starts
There has not been this much media adulation since the Thaksin election sweep of 2001 - when virtually the entire Thai press supported Thaksin.
The troubles for Chadchart will start shortly, about that "support across the board" claim.
The question is 'why?' Why are the media's editors and reporters so incredibly invested in Chadchart, who actually has no record of achievements?
Political pundits will tear that headline to shreds, and there won't be any moderation about it.
Large signs, small protest
Student-led political activists in Khon Kaen, northeast Thailand, staged an anti-coup, anti-Prayut protest on Sunday.

CHURCH SHOOTING CALIFORNIA TAIWAN COMMUNIST
The attempted mass shooting at the Taiwanese Presbyterian Church at Laguna Woods, California has got almost no mass-media coverage. Because nothing about it meets the U.S. mass media's requirements for a narrative.
Details do continue to emerge.
Now it turns out that the church shooter, 68-year-old pro-Beijing immigrant David Chou, is associated with a Chinese Communist Party front group, the Las Vegas Association for China's Peaceful Unification. The group is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, and demands that Taiwan surrender to Beijing.

Hands up, everyone who knew that the Communist Party of China finances and controls a major anti-Taiwan front group, in Las Vegas.

Return of the Limits to Growth
English cleric Tom Malthus (1766-1834) and the orgy of the Club of Rome (1972) began beating the drums again on Monday. So maybe the pandemic is really over and we're back to screeching normal?
A Chinese professor living in Germany assures us this morning they were both right. So why is he asking a question?
Have we hit the limits to growth?
"The reason physical limits to growth exist is that the planet's biosphere cannot grow exponentially."
SPOILER: Although there are no surviving eyewitnesses, it seems Malthus was such a pill he almost never was invited to dinners or parties. Still is.
Around a third of "educated" people believe the Earth is flat.

Russia has banned Joe Biden from entering the country - and 962 other American citizens.
It was not known if Biden intended to take a vaycay in Russia.
The Biden ban is 'lifetime'. Also banned from visiting Russia are secretary of state Antony Blinken, US senate majority leader Cuck Schumer, defence secretary Lloyd Austin and CIA head William Burns.
Several on the Russian government's list of undesirables wouldn't have been able to make the trip anyway; they are already dead.
 The Guardian had a comment:
The latest action by Russia forms part of a downward spiral in the country's relations with the west since its invasion of Ukraine, which prompted Washington and allies to impose drastic sanctions on Moscow and step up arms supplies to Ukraine's military.

The Monday Morning Joke
A golfer was involved in a terrible car crash and was rushed to the hospital. Just before he was put under, the surgeon popped in to see him.
"I have some good news and some bad news," says the surgeon. "The bad news is that I have to remove your right arm!"
"Oh God no!" cries the man "My golfing is over! Please Doc, what's the good news?"
"The good news is, I have another one to replace it with, but it's a woman's arm and I'll need your permission before I go ahead with the transplant."
"Go for it, doc," says the man, "as long as I can play golf again."
The operation went well and a year later the man was out on the golf course when he bumped into the surgeon.
"Hi, how's the new arm?" asks the surgeon. "Just great," says the businessman. "I'm playing the best golf ever. My new arm has a much finer touch, and my putting has really improved."
"That's great," said the surgeon.
"Not only that," continued the golfer, "my handwriting has improved, I've learned how to sew my own clothes and I've even taken up painting landscapes in watercolors."
"That's unbelievable!" said the surgeon, "I'm so glad to hear the transplant was such a great success. Are you having any side effects?"
"Well, just two, said the golfer, "I have trouble parallel parking and every time I get an erection, I get a headache."
