Top Thai judges barely save prime minister, warn Thaksin
Good Morning, World, this is Fishwrap's very early Bulldog for Wednesday May 29.
The Saddest Story of the Day, bar none, is from Turkey.
The difference between an outlaw and an in-law is that outlaws are wanted.
By Veera Prateepchaikul, life-long reporter of Thai politics, former editor Bangkok Post
Briefly:
It was a close call. Five against four was the vote by the nine Constitutional Court judges when they decided not to suspend Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin from performing his duties.
Those five judges saved the prime minister's face.
Srettha has 15 days from the court's ruling to submit a rebuttal.
About that 'Old Man' (background in photo above)
It is an open secret that Srettha is a mere figurehead, with former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra pulling the strings.
Dubbed the "deal made in Hell", Thaksin claims he is just a "harmless old man" with no power whatsoever.
But wise men say a politician is judged by his deeds, not by his words.
OPINION ANALYSIS
Srettha saysThaksin still has a lot to offerhis government and the country
TRANSPORTATION AIRLINE PARAPLEGIC
Another Clear Air Turbulence, and it was a disaster.
Turkish Airlines Istanbul to Izmir by an Airbus A321, flew  directly into turbulence and two minutes after the pilot turned on Fasten Seatbelts caution, a new stew -- just 2 months on the job -- flew up hard against the cabin ceiling, and broke her spine.
Also, TIGHTEN UP!
Loose seatbelts can lead to severe injuries during sudden turbulence, as passengers can be thrown from their seats and collide with overhead compartments or the cabin ceiling.
TAIWAN CHINA
HUALIEN: Taiwan president Lai thanks pilots who scrambled against China drills
Lai Ching-te personally  thanked fighter pilots who had scrambled against China last week during its war games around the island, as he was briefed on the events at a frontline air base on Tuesday. China, which claims democratically-governed Taiwan as its own territory, started two days of drills last Thursday in what it called "punishment" for Lai's inauguration speech that week.
Taiwan condemned the Chinese battle exercises.

I would like to thank all brothers and sisters for sticking to their posts and protecting national security. In recent days in response to the Chinese military exercises, everyone did a good job.
USA AIRCRAFT
CHICAGO: An Airbus 320 commercial airliner's engine caught fire Monday at O'Hare International Airport.
United Airlines Flight 2091, Chi-to-Seattle-Tacoma International, aborted takeoff after flames were reported. No one was hurt, and the aeroplane was towed to a hangar for maintenance-attention.

Oilers take control of Game 3, then fumble it all away
On a night when the Oilers and Stars took turns kicking each other's butts all over Rogers Place, it was Edmonton that wound up turning the other cheek.
Game 3 of the Western Conference Final was theirs to lose and the Oilers lost it.
Comment du Jour: That was fun watching the Oilers choke after leading 2-0 at the first intermission. [Signed, Canucks Nation]

GLOBAL WARMING GREENFAIL
Those 'All Electric' Fire Trucks are a Bad, Sad Joke.
The supposedly 'all-electric' fire engine has a diesel engine in it.
The pumps that actually deliver the water to put out fires run off of the diesel engine and the truck itself can run off of diesel when the battery inevitably runs out. So the entire description of 'all-electric' is a farce.
The cost to the county to replace its 1991 diesel fire engine with a Pierce Volterra battery electric fire engine was more than $1.8 million -- 66 million baht in real money.
This new electric fire engine shows the versatility of zero emission vehicles. Yet again, New Mexico is leading the way in practical, effective climate action.

USA POLITICS
Seems like we're pretty slow on real news today, Harry...
Trump booed and heckled by raucous crowd at Libertarian convention
Donald Trump was booed repeatedly while addressing the Libertarian Party National Conventionon Saturday night, with many in the crowd shouting insults and decrying him for things like his COVID-19 policies, running up towering federal deficits and lying about his political record. with many in the crowd shouting insults and decrying him for things like his Covid-19 policies, running up towering federal deficits and lying about his political record.

America’s Answer:
Fear not that ye have died for naught; The torch ye threw to us we caught, Ten million hands will hold it high, And freedom's light shall never die! We've learned the lesson that ye taught In Flanders' fields.
Yes, Correct. Canadians honour Remembrance Day at 11:11 on November 11and the Americans honour no one, ever.
116,516 American soldiers did not even make it past 1918.
When you Follow The Science you find...
HUMANS: We're the "super predators." Top of the food chain, baby, and don't you forget it.
If you doubt it, ask a mammoth. Or a saber-tooth tiger.
Multiple studies in the Northern Hemisphere show the sound of our voices evokes more terror than other apex predators and now new research in the Southern Hemisphere reaches the same conclusion.
African savannah animals fear the sound of humans even more than they fear lions.
After us, dogs are runner-up.
