Vegetarian Festival spending projected to hit 42.2 billion baht
Good morning my pretties.
It is Wednesday in East Nong Bon, where the temperature in East Nong Bon showed it - a pesky 27 Canadian Celsius degrees - 25 with the wind chill.
The Autumnal Equinox (today) means winter is a mere three (3) months away.
Thailand is wildly celebrating National Chai Day, National Miniature Golf Day, National Pecan Cookie Day, World Gratitude Day, Escapology Day. All of which shall be served. And International Peace Day, so we can hope.
NOTICE: 101 shopping days until the New Year.
TRIVIA: At noon tomorrow (Thursday) in Thailand, you will not cast a shadow. The sun will be precisely overhead.s
THAILAND TOURISM SETBACK
Thailand's junta's plan to declare five (5) popular tourist spots 'officially open for business' was pushed back for six weeks.
For starters, Bangkok, Pattaya and Cha-Am aren't even close to the goal of 70 percent vaccinations against Covid-19.
THAILAND ECONOMY
The ruling junta announced on Tuesday that it intends to push through an edict to raise the level of public death to seventy (70) percent of GDP. The Bank of hailand cleared all corridors to rush to support the plan.
The somewhat convoluted plan does not authorise the junta's "government" to borrow more money. Even so...
The announced plans of the token Ministry of Finance include a measure to borrow yet another 500 billion-with-a-"b" baht, supposedly to support plans to kickstart more projects.
That will push Thailand's debt ratio above sixty (60) percent before the end of this year.

Thaksin, 16 years on: The Army Backstabbers
Thaksin Shinawatra has revealed what he still feels and what he is looking forward to, 16 years to the day after he was purged from power by one of the many Thai military coups.

Opinion: 16 years of lost opportunities, what lessons have Thais learnt from coup
Thaksin was overthrown simply because he was too successful as a politician.
He won a landslide victory with a party that he founded. He became the first elected premier to stay in power for a full term and then became the first to ever get reelected, again with a landslide.
 Today, Thaksin says
The worst thing you can do in Thai politics is to run for office and get elected by a landslide because when you do that, the knives will come out.

Suthep? Corrupt? Pshaw - Perish the thought!
The junta-appointed Criminal Division for Political Office Holders division of the Supreme Court ruled that then-deputy prime minister and Democrat Party bagman Suthep Thaugsuban is 'Not Guilty' of corruption in the failed national plan to built police stations and housing.
The project put billions of baht into the pockets of some or several someones.
Not by coincidence
Suthep was also the public face of the People's Democratic Reform Committee - Shut Down Bangkok - that enabled the May, 2014 military coup that put the junta in charge.
Comment on the Suthep hearing.
We may feel various emotions, but amazement is not amongst them.
Still... someone got 5.8 billion baht in real money, and we are left to guess who that was.

Is Covid Over?
Discuss and Debate.
And discuss whether Thailand's junta will ever be able to part with its Emergency Decree and immense self-awarded powers it seized, even before the first case of SARS Cov-2 struck Thailand.
