'Seaborne miracle' - sailor lives through ship sinking
Out of the 105 sailors aboard, 81 have been found and they are looking for the other 24.
A surviving Royal Thai Navy seaman was rescued yesterday after his storm-battered corvette sank off the Hua Hin coast in the Gulf of Thailand.
Rescuers also found the bodies of six drowned sailors.
The navy is now focused on rescuing the remaining 23 sailors after HTMS Sukhothai sank during the storm in the Gulf of Thailand off the coast of Prachuap Khiri Khan province Sunday night.
Navy spokesman 4-star Admiral Pokkrong Monthatpalin said operations in the area of the HTMS Sukhothai are focused on attempts to find the 23 seamen still missing.

Thailand's junta hands out financial gifts but gets no 'thanks'
Thailand's token 'prime minister' Prayut Chan-o-cha gathered the alleged 'government' on Tuesday, to announce a New Year's "gift bonanza" for the country - especially for business.
[Main details in graphic, below]
The "gifts" include short-term tax reductions for shoppers, reductions in land and building taxes, and property transaction fees to boost public consumption and the economy into 2023.
Under a revitalised Shop Dee Mee Khuen* plan, consumers  will be able to claim income tax rebates on up to 40,000 baht of purchases between January 1 and February 15 -- but keep your receipts or it won't work.

But then... Thai business groups went lukewarm to negative on Prayut's 'New Year's Bonanza'.
Retailers including The Mall Group and Big C Supercenter said some of the measures would spur short-term consumer spending, right through the January 24 Chinese New Year - even though there won't be Chinese, yet again.
The Thai Real Estate Association said Prayut's "gifts" would actually slow the entire market.
The association expects the property market to contract by more than 10% next year because of Prayut's actions.
The cuts ending on December 31 reduced transfer and mortgage fees to 0.01% each, which were better than the new measures.
But the major impact to the property market will be the termination of the eased LTV limits.

Thailand politics rearranged
Prayut gets a 'deputy leader' of his new UTN Party
Political veteran (and Tulane University graduate) Pirapan Salirathavibhaga has appointed himself 'secretary-general' of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart (United Thai Nation) Party -- second in command after the current token 'prime minister' Prayut.
Pirapan is the driving force behind the UTN - and expects Prayut to lead. There may be an election on May 7. Or So.
Pirapan's role as "second in command to Prayut in the UTN" will be to contact and work with important politicians from other parties.
Thaksin and sister catch a legal break
Thailand's junta-controlled National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has dropped its graft allegations against Thaksin, sister Yingluck, other-sister Yaowapa Wongsawat, and Yingluck's ex-commerce minister Boonsong Teriyapirom.
They were all accused of corruption in rice sales, including a major sale to China.
'The decent thing to do'
Thaksin was to give a political talk today on Clubhouse.
He cancelled in order to show respect and pray for the quick recovery of HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha.
The Office of the Court of Justice, which supervises most of the country's courts, ordered all employees and all subsidiary agencies to cancel all New Year's Eve celebrations.
Instead, agency heads must organise religious ceremonies on behalf of Princess Paht.
'Mommy, there's a hungry elephant at the door'
Wild elephants have emerged from protected parks east of Bangkok to beg humans for food.
Villagers in a Prachin Buri community awoke to the sounds of wild elephants knocking on their doors and rooting in their gardens
Hungry jumbos from the Khao Ang Rue Nai Wildlife Sanctuary in the neighbouring province of Chachoengsao had found their way into the Prachin Buri community and "knocked" on the doors of three homes between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m.
Residents said the elephants were likely searching for food as there have been recent reports of the animals crossing into Prachin Buri forests to find sustenance after their sanctuary was hit by drought.
